Descriptions of AAO Board Positions

President Oversees all operations of the organization and ensures program areas are offering activities and events to continue AAO mission. Works with board to develop business plan . Responsible for emails sent to members and non members regarding upcoming events, implementation of new programs/events, communications with board members, representing All About Omaha at community events, etc. Must possess strong leadership skills, public speaking skills and strong organizational skills. Must have at least one year of board experience.

Executive Vice President Assists president in duties listed above and takes on role of president when he or she is unable to fulfill duties. Oversees all membership-related activities by working with Vice President of Membership to recruit new members, organize member correspondence and design and implement member benefit. Assists President in ensuring program areas are offering activities and events to continue AAO Mission. Must have at least one year of board experience.

Vice President of Membership Assists Executive Vice President with all membership-related activities. Organizes and executes 2004-2005 membership drive. Recruits new members, organizes member correspondence and designs and implements member benefits. Responsible for communicating with Secretary to maintain and update membership database/mailing lists. Organizes member correspondence and welcomes new members. Acts as chairperson for membership committee.

Vice President Community Service Develops and organizes a variety of activities or projects that allow and encourage members to contribute time, energy and/or other resources to bettering the community. Maintains relationships with charitable organizations. Researches ongoing individual volunteer opportunities that are listed on AAO web site for member use.

Vice President Leadership Development Responsible for planning and overseeing events and programs that will educate and enhance the leadership skills of members and potential members of All About Omaha. Serves as a resource to the membership by providing useful leadership development materials, i.e. articles, leadership seminars not sponsored by AAO, mentoring opportunities and formal leadership programs. Develops and maintains relationships with community and government leaders for assistance with planning speaking engagements and leadership forums.

Vice President Charitable Social Events Responsible for planning and overseeing quarterly charitable social events including the coordination of venue, entertainment, catering, decorations, invitations, sponsorships, theme, etc. Chairperson of the Social Committee and of the annual Torchlight Ball event. Position can be large time commitment in the weeks before major events.

Vice President Omaha Awareness Plans and organizes outings to various Omaha-based cultural, athletic and other Omaha-specific events (i.e. Opera Omaha, Omaha Community Playhouse, Omaha Beef Football, Omaha Maverick Hockey, Omaha Symphony, Joslyn Art Museum) throughout the year. In charge of ticket sales and garnering group ticket rates. Maintains relationships with various local organizations and businesses and keeps abreast of local events.

Vice President Corporate Sponsorship/Fundraising Researches and implements fundraising activities to raise funds for All About Omaha. Responsible for soliciting local businesses and corporations for sponsorships and/or in-kind donations for major charitable social events and to help cover basic AAO administrative costs. Chairperson for corporate sponsorship for Torchlight Ball. Must be a strong communicator and comfortable in making corporate presentations on behalf of AAO to local businesses and corporations.

Vice President Marketing/Public Relations Responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of a consistent, favorable image for All About Omaha. Responsible for developing, producing and distributing marketing materials including brochures, business cards, posters, flyers, etc. and coordinating an overall marketing campaign to increase exposure for All About Omaha. Also responsible for writing and sending press releases, organizing and attending radio, newspaper and/or television interviews, promoting All About Omaha through the media and assisting in web site development and content. Marketing and/or public relations experience and existing media contacts are helpful. Graphic design experience is also helpful but not required.

Treasurer Responsible for bookkeeping, banking, and monitoring tax/IRS changes or requests in conjunction with the President. Accounting experience helpful but not required.

Secretary Responsible for taking minutes during board meetings and reporting them back to the board. Responsible for All About Omaha correspondence (i.e. thank you notes, sympathy cards, flowers, etc.). Maintains All About Omaha address database for mass mailings. (Must have Windows "Access" program.)
