All About Omaha Board of Directors

 

Danna Kehm, President

Danna grew up in the Omaha area and loves to call it home. She is the VNA Telehealth Coordinator for the Visiting Nurse Association where she oversees their home medical technology program. Danna is a graduate of University of Iowa, earning her BA in Marketing and Management. She also received her MBA from Bellevue University, with an emphasis in Finance. During her free time Danna enjoys going to concerts, sporting events, and spending time with friends down in the Old Market. This is Danna's second year on the board and she is excited about the opportunity to take a more active role in the community, and be a part of a progressive organization to help keep young professionals in Omaha. 

Karissa Armstrong, Executive Vice President

After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Karissa began her career in advertising and marketing in San Diego, Ca with Euro RSCG.  She then decided to spread her wings and took a job with NYCA as a Sr. Media Planner/Buyer where clients included TaylorMade-adidas Golf Worldwide, Maxfli Golf, San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, The San Diego Union-Tribune,  SignOnSanDiego.com, Kyocera Wireless, Duramed FUTURES Tour and others. NYCA's office is located right on the beaches of Encinitas, California. Not a bad gig!  Upon returning to the great state of Nebraska in 2007, Karissa took a position with Bozell where she worked as a Media Manager and now as the Associte Media Director. Karissa was previously the VP of Marketing, and is excited to step into the role of the Executive Vice President of AAO.   Karissa is looking forward to growing the AAO organization  and cheering on the Huskers this year! 

Tina Vasko, Treasurer

She is proud to be a Nebraska native. She was born and raised in Papillion, Nebraska and now lives in mid-town Omaha. She is a graduate of University of Nebraska at Omaha where she studied Finance and Banking. She works at First National as a financial analyst for the holding company. Not only does she enjoy her job but is delighted to be working at an Omaha based company. In her free time she enjoys volunteering, traveling, hunting, camping, watching a good movie, spending time with family, and spending time with friends (and making new ones) all around Omaha.

Scott Susman, Secretary

Scott moved to Omaha shortly after graduating from the University of Missouri. While not cheering on his Tigers and hometown St. Louis Cardinals, he writes software for Union Pacific. He's quickly taken to calling Omaha home and sings its praises anywhere he is.

Erika Pritchard,  VP Membership

Erika grew up in a small, pleasant village in central Nebraska – Pleasanton (pop. 350). She graduated from Pleasanton High School in 2000 and majored in Journalism and minored in Marketing at Chadron State College in western Nebraska. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in 2004 and began her career as an Admissions Coordinator at Chadron State College. She moved to the “big city” in 2007 to begin work as an Admissions Counselor at College of Saint Mary. Erika enjoys meeting high school seniors and visiting with current CSM students because it keeps her young! Erika has enjoyed Omaha very much because of all the great opportunities to meet new people in the community and the numerous activities available. She enjoys playing volleyball, visiting new parks for hiking opportunities, and has enjoyed taking photography classes. She is currently busy though, taking classes in the Masters in Organizational Leadership program at College of Saint Mary. She plans to graduate in May 2010.

Anne Romero, VP Membership

Anne lived in four other states and one other country before moving to Omaha. Most of her formative years were spent living in the northern Chicago suburbs. She graduated with her BA in English Literature from Creighton University and after college made Omaha her permanent home. Anne is a Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR), and has worked as a recruiter for Celebrity Staff, a division of C & A Industries, since 2000. She recruits administrative, sales, marketing, management, and corporate support talent for corporate clients all over Omaha. Anne loves books, especially well written historical fiction, enjoys spending time with her husband, Gabe,  their two-year-old son, and six-year-old boxer mix. Gabe and Anne are both very active in the Omaha community. She was attracted to All About Omaha because of the wide variety of social and cultural events that AAO hosts and the exposure to new experiences. Anne is looking forward to spreading the word about All About Omaha and increasing membership!

Kristin Buscher,  VP Marketing

Kristin was born and raised in Omaha, NE.  She graduated from Colorado State University, where she studied journalism and history.  In 2003, she moved back to Omaha, NE.  She worked in a couple different industries, until she discovered her passion for higher education.   She has been working in college admissions for nearly four years, first starting at University of Phoenix, Omaha Campus.  She currently works as the Director of Transfer and Non-traditional Admissions at College of Saint Mary, where she has had experience in marketing and public relations.  She graduated from University of Phoenix with her Master of Business Administration.  Since finishing her graduate program, she is now ready for a new challenge, and was presented with the opportunity to be a board member for All About Omaha and this is her second year as the Vice President of Marketing.  She enjoys spending time with her husband of three years, Jon, her five month old son, Nicholas, and their two dogs, Sally and Bailey.  She loves to travel, meet new people, sing, dance, and just have a good time. 

Julie Berger,  VP Community Involvement

Julie grew up in Spalding, NE and moved to Omaha during the summer of 2007. After receiving her MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she began working for EdVenture Partners, a marketing education consultancy. She designs marketing and recruitment programs to assist clients in reaching Generation Y students, while also working on internal projects. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member at Bellevue University. Julie is a big fan of Film Streams and enjoys being part of the Young Art Patron group at Joslyn Art Museum. She and a close friend recently started a Nebraska chapter of the Pajama Program, a not-for-profit organization that provides new pajamas and books to children in need. Travel, reading, baking, wine, film, art, sports, and fitness are some of her other interests. This is Julie’s first year on the AAO Board and she is excited to help young professionals get more involved in serving their community.

Michael Wolf, VP Leadership

Mike is the Director of Information Technology at the Iowa School for the Deaf; where he oversees all technology related items for the school that serves deaf and hard-of-hearing students from across the states of Iowa and Nebraska. After growing up in Cedar Rapids, IA, Mike attended the University of Iowa (Go Hawks!) and graduated with his Bachelors in Business Administration. Mike’s fourteen years of working background in the technology field has allowed him to work for many diverse companies including: Iowa Electronics, a technology service provider in Eastern Iowa; The University of Iowa Athletics Department, where he served as the first Director of Information Technology; and NEBCO, Inc., a large private construction and real estate company based in Lincoln. Mike and his wife, Sarah, have lived in Omaha for the last seven years. Mike is very excited to have the opportunity to serve on the All About Omaha Board and is looking forward to actively contributing to the organization.

Desiree Walsh Spencer, VP Omaha Awareness

Desiree Walsh Spencer is the principal and founder of Insomniac Design Studio where she manages and develops brands for multiple not for profit and business accounts. She received her BFA from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln and has spent the last 10 years honing her skills in the design industry before setting out on her own.

Desiree is entering into her fifth year on the board of the Omaha Area Youth Orchestras and second year on the executive board. She is a member of the Omaha Running Club, AIGA, and also helps with the Omaha Marathon planning committee

An avid marathon runner she can be found running the hills of Mid and Downtown as well as the flat scenic trails of The Wabash Trace. When she is not working and training. She enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with her husband, Brian, and their two fur babies, Weber (dog) and Raine (cat).

Jessica Wolff,  VP Charitable Events

Jessica is from West Point, Nebraska. She attended Hastings College and majored in Political Science and Philosophy. Before she moved to Omaha, she moved to Manhattan, Kansas and pursued graduated studies at Kansas State University. Don't worry she still loves the Huskers, but not as much as she loves her Creighton Bluejays! Jessica is a 2009 graduate of Creighton University School of Law and will start her legal career this fall as a first year associate at the law firm of Gross & Welch. When Jessica isn't working, she enjoys going to Creighton basketball games, attending concerts, exploring new hot spots in Omaha, and running and training for upcoming 5Ks, 10Ks, and half-marathons.

Tina Volpe, VP Charitable Events

Tina Volpe recently moved to Omaha from Minnesota. Her event and marketing experience spans many different industries including retail, technology, diversity marketing and sports marketing. Volpe’s recent work includes working as an Associate Producer on CivicFest aproduction by the Minneapolis Saint Paul 2008 Host Committee for the Republican National Convention, CivicFest, A VeryMinnesota Celebration was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center September 2008. Previous experience includes Director of Mall Marketing for Simon Property Group and Director of Programs & Events for the Minnesota High Tech Association. In 2006 Volpe served as the Chair of the City of Hugo Centennial Celebration in Hugo, MN. Tina also served on the Board of Directors for the White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce in White Bear Lake, MN from 2006 – 2009. She is currently working as an independent event planner as she seeks out a new career opportunity in Omaha.

Anna Detrich, Past President / Advisor

Anna is a small-town Kansas native, but has slowly developed quite an affinity for the Huskers. A job relocation brought her to Omaha in August 2005, and she has loved getting to know Omaha and is proud to call it home. Anna works for Sage Hospitality Resources as Director of Marketing for CoCo Key Water Resort, where every day is a bright and sunny 84 degrees. She has a deep appreciation for wide-open skies and spectacular thunderstorms, proper spelling and grammar and her Dundee neighborhood.
